WoMEN aren't the only ones who are DRAMA!

on Friday (my cleaning day) i decided it was past over due to change our bed sheets, not only had they been on too long, but i thought it would also be a good time to take off the flannel sheets and switch them with the usual regular cotton sheets. so the bed was made, later that night around 11 Gary and i go to get in bed and he asks what happened to the sheets? i told him that i had changed them, he claimed there was no way he was gonna be able to sleep on the cotton sheets and that he needed his soft flannel ones (really?)i was like whatever dude! so he goes and snuggles down in bed and continues to complain and freak out saying that the cotton sheets feel like sleeping on a chalk board or something of that level?? (come on!) i thought his freak out would pass,at this point i am not remaking the bed..i did it once that day and i hate making the bed-like the changing sheets kind of making the bed. Gary jumps out of bed asking where the flannel sheets are and has to remake the bed...(REALLY?!) yeah, Mr. Mariah Carey cant sleep on cotton sheets anymore and is demanding his flannel sheets! luckily i had washed them and they were clean to put back on the bed. and men say women are drama...seriously?!

Summer Break

well, it's been a while since I've blogged...but I've been a little busy finishing up with school. after my first nursing meeting (on a Monday) we were told we would be having to take the TEAS test (entrance exam) on either Thursday or Friday...i choose Friday since Thursday was my birthday...it was stressful enough having to take this exam with very little notice and at the end of the semester while you've got exams and other things due also. so i bought the study guide book and fitted in some studying for that amongst all the other stuff i had going on. there was a lot to remember some of that stuff i hadn't done in 2 years (algebra) and some of the science stuff as well. I'm the type of person i learn it and KNOW the material really well, when i need to, but then after that, the info is gone! i don't remember stuff even from last semester let alone 2 years ago...so i was trying to get it to come back...long story short i passed the exam. each section is timed and i actually studied the most for math and ran out of time on the math section, i was like 10 from the end and the time ran out :( but, i passed overall so, I'm good. now, its the waiting game till i start the program in October. it seems like forever away, but I'm sure it will be here for ya know it.
Final exams were also this week, and i am glad all my classes are over! especially English/literature...not my forte. not only did we have an 8-10 page literature analysis due for or final essay, but we had an in class essay the day of the final. i HATE writing. i thought i was done when i wrote that doozey of an essay i had to write for the final. why wouldn't i think the final for english wouldn't also MORE writing? it's English/literature of course it's MORE writing. i took forever to write and came prepared with an outline, (she gave us the topic and questions we would be writing about) i think mine was bout 5-6 pages long and i was the 2nd to last person left in the classroom. I'm always the last person taking a test, so it doesn't bother me. let me say i felt soo good leaving that class after i was done. not because i wrote some amazing piece of work, but because that class was OVER!! and i just checked to see if my grades were posted online..and my grade for English was...i got an A! which i owe that A to my aunt Robin who proofread each and every essay for me. she rocks!!

2 New Favorites!

so, a year ago or so..i tried an iced coffee from McDonalds, it literally tasted like bleach water...could have been a fluke or someone that didnt know how to make it, made it, and i was the lucky person who got to drink it..yuck! i took 2 sips and was afraid to drink the rest! so i was hesitant to try the new frappes McDonalds is now offering. but i tried a Carmel frappe and i must say it was really good! i got a small just to be safe, just in case i didnt like it! no bleach water in that thing, it was delish!
on another note another new favorite thing (not that i plan on drinking tons of frappes but i do plan on eating this!) is vanilla yogurt, granola and strawberries...its delish! i had it as a post workout breakfast yesterday and it was soo good! i had it for breakfast again today...and another good thing is that the yogurt and granola are organic! this is a yummy new snack and thanks to my friend Emily for bringing this yummy snack/breakfast to my attention!

Blog-worthy News!

I was accepted into the RN program at the college! I received my letter on Saturday (but didn't check the mail -our mailboxes are down the street) and Gary got the mail on Sunday...unexpectedly he brought me the letter with a smile on his face. when i applied on April 1 (you have the whole month of April to apply) i was given a memo that said they would have until June to contact you (normally they have the following month -which would have been May to contact you) so i was bummed that i would have to wait soo long to find out if i got into the program. so i was not checking the mail anxiously awaiting the letter because it wasn't june! I was super shocked to get the letter and so quickly on May 1!! i had to reread it a couple of times because i wasnt sure what it said! i just saw the word accepted but thought it meant that my application had been accepted and they would contact me later. i just was not expecting to get the letter so i wasnt expecting it to read i was accepted! anyhoo...what a great day! i was soo excited and even though i have such a long way to go still, i feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel (a very very small light!) but, i am on to my reason for going to school and my new career, i can't wait to get into the juicy stuff, i still have awhile for that though! i have a mandatory meeting on monday where i am sure i will find out more info and also find out when i have to take the nursing entrance exam! oh, god..another thing to worry about!

Cystic Fibrosis Walk

Today Gary and I participated in a walk for cystic fibrosis to support my father in laws girlfriend's son (that's a mouth full!) His name is Cody and he is 16 and has cystic fibrosis. He alone raised over $7,000! they announced, that i believe he raised the second highest amount of money. Gary and I both did the walk (it was just basically if you were there you could walk in it..) supposedly it was 3 miles but they had it mapped through a park so, I'm not sure how accurate those supposed 3 miles were...most people fizzeled out after 1 or 2 laps around and got in the lunch line but, we went around 3 laps which we guess was 3 miles..after the walk they had a free lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drink. you know that was my favorite part! lol. it turned out to be a really nice day mid 70's and sunny but, it started off chilly and cloudy! brrr!

Dad's Visit

i'm so bummed i forgot to take pictures of my dad's visit today. i'm soo mad! more for the fact i wanted to have a picture to post for my blog! anyhoo, we had a good visit! he came out with ann and michael from Santa Monica (where they're staying) to see where i lived and have lunch. i cleaned places in this house that havent been cleaned since i moved here 3 years ago. i always get that way with company. my house is super clean, anyone else want to visit!? sadly i dont think he even looked at my sparkling clean bath tub i spent nearly an hour cleaning...figures! lol! i was cleaning the bathroom when Gary reassured me that he didnt think my dad would be coming over to take a bath! (i figured that!) it's a woman thing, i guess..i want my house to look nice...ok, back to the visit. so we went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch, had a good lunch and now, hours after the fact, i'm disappointed i didnt get any cheesecake for dessert...not that i needed it, but it sure sounds good now! we also walked around the mall after lunch, went and played in the apple store with the ipad...poor dad he has no clue about the Internet he couldnt believe the store (and all the people in it!- no recession there!) he didn't even know where to begin on the ipad, i think he should get one and learn about the Internet! ok, maybe start with an itouch! a cool gadget and still could learn his way around the Internet. hard to believe in this day and age someone not knowing how to operate a computer or the Internet, but there is one person!-my dad!
dad is staying in Santa Monica at the hotel michael (ann's son) works at called The Huntley...it's supposedly a fancy shmancy hotel, well i checked it out online and let's just say i want to stay there! we may have to plan a trip for my birthday...i've got quite the list going for my birthday already though...poor gary.! since i don't have pics of our day..

I 'Beg' Your Pardon!

Every night, or anytime we eat for that matter, Troy begs. He "sits pretty" like a little squirrel quietly waiting for food. Gary saves and gives him a bite of whatever it is he is eating. Troy knows better than to beg from me. Although I did give him a little piece of broccoli last night and he just sniffed it and rolled in it..a ritual he does when he finds a dead or smooshed spider...i don't know what's weirder...1. that he rolls in dead spider guts or 2. That he compared my broccoli to a dead spider.
